Group Exercise Classes

For many of our members a big part of the BodyScapes experience is about community, working out together, pushing each other, or simply getting to know your Brookline neighbors.  Our Group Exercise Program is a great way to get fit and connect, and the classes are always free.   The following is a representative list of options, ranging from the classics to the newest stuff.  Regardless of your interests, we will have something that fits you.  To check out what a typical weekly schedule looks like, just click here.

Barre

This high-intensity class fuses the disciplines of core-conditioning and stretching to produce long, lean muscles and a strong, flexible body. Challenge your body to work from the inside out through repetitive movements in small muscle groups, with particular focus on legs, bottom, core, and arms. This class is open to all levels.

Hour of Power

Strength-training class using medicine balls, resistance bands, stability balls, etc. Beginners through advanced.

Indoor Cycling

Endurance and interval ride with lots of encouragement. Work at your own level.

Mat Pilates

Focus on breathing, body awareness, and core strength (understanding of Pilates basics required).

Hatha Yoga

A yoga class that combines postures to improve both muscular strength and improve flexibility. Classes focus on correct breathing techniques to calm the body and mind. Class concludes with deep relaxation. All fitness levels welcome.

Power Yoga

An athletic flowing yoga using breathing to lengthen your pose. Power yoga is a combination of dynamic breathing and strong movement that creates a high energy workout. This workout utilizes a sequence of postures that build strength, unwind tight joints, and loosen muscles.  Power yoga is directed at creating the highest level of energy, vitality, and freedom. This class is recommended for intermediate and advanced members.

Zumba

Zumba combines Latin rhythms with cardiovascular exercise to create a fun, easy-to- follow, calorie-burning dance routine. Great for all levels.

VIRTUAL Insanity

Insanity is a workout regimen with a focus on strenuous stamina training. the  program emphasizes “max interval training. No weights or any other equipment are needed for the workout. Modifications are available.

VIRTUAL Power Yoga

VIRTUAL Zumba

Zumba ®:  This is a dance-based fitness program that takes the “work” out of work out by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. This class combines cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility

VIRTUAL Mat Pilates

Focus on breathing, body awareness, and core strength (understanding of Pilates basics required).

VIRTUAL Boot Camp

Anything goes in Boot Camp! Challenge yourself with this fast- paced, calorie-blasting workout.  Boot Camp is geared toward all fitness levels. Modifications are always offered for the beginner to the advanced.

VIRTUAL Barre

Barre is a total-body workout that combines simple ballet-inspired movements with Pilates and core-conditioning exercises. By targeting smaller muscle groups that are typically neglected in traditional strength training you will improve your core stability, posture, and joint alignment while increasing your range of motion.

VIRTUAL Core Fusion

Virtual Core Fusion is a focused, efficient, and challenging series of mat based muscular resistance exercises targeting the abdominals, obliques, glutes, and low/mid back regions. All exercises are bodyweight-only with options to use common household such as small towels, thick socks, books, and beverage bottles. All levels welcome; modifications available.

VIRTUAL Restorative Yoga

This practice is designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tensions from the body and mind. All levels welcome.
